NH Technologist Licensure Bill Signed into Law

AHRA member Marcy Rushford, CRA, FACHE of Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH recently attended the SB330 bill signing ceremony in Concord, NH. This legislation creates licensure standards for radiographers, radiation therapists, nuclear medicine technologists, magnetic resonance technologists, radiologist assistants, limited x-ray machine operators and sonographers. It also mandates the creation of a board to administer the license regulations.¹ Marcy has shared the following press release written by Brandy Cusson, RT(R), ARRT, President of the New Hampshire Society of Radiologic Technologists (NHSRT):

August 9, 2016 was a historic day for imaging professionals in New Hampshire. The NHSRT had its culminating moment with Governor Hassan at the SB330 bill signing ceremony. This bill promotes patient safety through educated and credentialed technologists who will give the best care imaging has to offer.

It was a day that ended one chapter for us and started a new one. Our journey to state licensure was over two years long, but we got it done. It was a collective effort of technologists, patients, and legislators. The official bill signing on August 9 was a day of celebration of our efforts. In attendance were technologists from varied hospitals, legislators, radiologists, hospital administrators, supporters, and patients.

The NHSRT is very thankful for all the support we received over the past two years. We could not be more proud to be a part of this page in history. We are excited for the future and look forward to the challenges to come as the Medical Imaging Professionals and Radiation Therapists Board starts their work to complete the realization of our dream.
