CRA Exam Approved for Post-9/11 GI Bill Reimbursement

CRABy AHRA Staff

If you’re a veteran or current active duty service member with Post-9/11 GI Bill Benefits, you may be eligible to have your Certified Radiology Administrator (CRA) examination fee reimbursed by the VA! The CRA exam has applied for and been approved by the U.S Department of Veterans Affairs for reimbursement under the Post-9/11 GI Bill. This is a great win for our military members and a great example of how members help members in the AHRA. This recommendation was the passion of one of our own membership, and the AHRA has been able to provide that need.

The CRA credential is highly valued in the civilian market as a demonstration of overall imaging management knowledge. It helps you demonstrate to potential employers that the experience you earned as a military imaging leader translates to excellence in any civilian market setting. CRA exam prerequisites—which are based on a point scale for education, experience, and optional credentialing—can be met with military education and imaging management experience gained in the armed forces. Positions used toward the exam prerequisites are evaluated based on tasks and responsibilities, not the specific job titles, so whether you were called “director,” “manager,” or “NCOIC,” if your experience meets the task requirements it can be used toward the CRA exam prerequisites. Or, if you’ve earned your imaging degrees and management experience in the civilian world, the CRA is a wonderful way to use your Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits to show your skills and boost your career!

The process of preparing for the CRA exam and reviewing your skills in the 5 CRA subject areas can be a terrific opportunity to look at what you’ve learned across practice settings and provide a great framework for pulling together a wide variety of experiences into a single cohesive body of knowledge.

Whether you’re currently serving or were discharged years ago, earning the CRA is a distinction to be proud of, and now your Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits can help you make it happen!
