You Matter

Ed YoderBy Ed Yoder, MBA, MHA, RT(R), CRA, FAHRA

Well members, friends, and others, it is that time again. I have my climbing shoes on, and I am ready to make that box jump onto my soap box… no groaning from the peanut gallery! So, all the members I serve, please gather round as I need your support and commitment here. This is very important.

It is the time of year where you decide on the next leaders of AHRA. The time to vote is nearly upon us, and it is a very important task that I want to challenge all 5,000+ of you to do. This is YOUR opportunity to make your voice heard and to choose your leadership team for the upcoming year for president, and the next three years for directors. It does not take much time. All of the candidates’ profiles will be on our website, including their candidate statements. As a member you should feel free to e-mail these candidates and ask them questions that concern you about the AHRA, including membership education, where they see the AHRA going, and how they will move the organization forward. It is when we talk and interact with you, the membership, that we find out exactly what our community’s needs are.

There is a lot going on in the world of imaging: dwindling reimbursement, e-ordering, Congressional movement and changes, the ACA, the list goes on and on. We are working very hard within the board to ensure you are kept informed of these matters and educated on them. It is very important to choose your leadership carefully so that you feel confident that AHRA has the right individuals steering the ship you are riding on.

We have a very strong group of candidates this year. My goal is to have this voter turnout be the best in AHRA history, and I need your help to accomplish this! Please remember when the polls open in the coming weeks to vote for who you want to represent you on the board of directors and as president of AHRA. Thank you!

From the musical side, I am going to take you down a side road and turn you on to a little known rock’n’roll band out of Rochester, NY called Duke Jupiter. They were tearing up the local music scene when they snagged a major record contract with Morocco Records, a subsidiary of Motown Records. In 1982 they released the album “Duke Jupiter I.” That album had a mild hit, number 56 on the Billboard Charts, “I’ll Drink To You.” This song is a fun, rollicking, gets-you-dancing rock tune. They followed that in 1984 with the album “White Knuckle Ride,” and if you really like rock with a blues and boogie tinge, then you need to give this album a listen. The title track was a great tune, and we played it in the band to a great crowd response. Also check out “Rescue Me” and “Top of the Bay.” Rock on friends!

(Also be sure to check out Member Appreciation, where every month we celebrate new members and highlight significant anniversaries.)
