It Went By Fast

January 2014—It seems like yesterday Thanksgiving was around the corner, RSNA fast on the turkey’s heels, Christmas sniffing around the bend, and 2013 thinking about retirement! Now here we are in 2014 – another year come and gone. One thing I realized as I sent my first born off to college this year (“to play baseball and work on a backup plan” as he calls it) – time flies!

So, what have I been up to since our last correspondence?  I have been very busy working for AHRA and more importantly you, the membership. December was spent at RSNA visiting many of our vendor partners and thanking them for their support. We also took some time to share with them the deliverables that they realized from their partnerships with us. We shared our ability to help them out with CE credits through RCEEM and how our office can do these faster and better than the competition! We also spoke to some partners about expanding their involvement with AHRA.

We held our joint RSNA reception with the RBMA on Tuesday night, which was very well attended. The RBMA partnership is flourishing as we look for ways to join together in like causes. We appreciate their friendship and collaboration.

If you are looking to plan your schedule for 2014, get those new calendars out that you got for Christmas and your red pen and get ready to circle these dates! Your Annual Meeting design team is hard at work lining up speakers for August 10-13 in Washington, DC. They will make a trip in January to check out the space at the Gaylord National hotel and will work to narrow down the list of keynote speakers.

Please take the time to nominate candidates for the AHRA Board of Directors. We are now taking names of individuals who would be interested in serving the association in a higher capacity. You can submit names through the AHRA website. We need talented strategic planning team members who can help the association serve our membership!

We begin the year by taking our Coding and Reimbursement Seminar virtual again! If you attended this last year then you saw the value in being able to have your entire team attend these sessions by Coding Strategies and our very own Melody Mulaik. For one price you can invite your entire team. This year the seminar is happening on January 22nd and 23rd. Don’t forget to register.

Musically, as “Kissmas” came and went your masked rock’n’rollers Kiss were selected for induction into the rock’n’roll hall of fame!  Finally, many said, it is about time! Love them or hate them you have to say they are a marketing marvel, they have sold a lot of records without the benefit of a lot of top ten hits and their stage show is amazing. I am not a huge Kiss fan but I do like a lot of their more radio-friendly stuff. Check out Hard Luck Woman, my favorite, and you’ve also got to jam to: I Was Made For Loving You, Sure Know Something, and many others.

Rock on in 2014 my friends!

LOL, I know I could balance the budget but they wouldn’t like it! I could get the country out of debt for sure! Probably would get myself shot over the Congressmen/women and Senators I make mad with the cuts!

I think we should let radiology administrators run the country, who better to do more with less on a balanced budget?!?!?!?!
